Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - any advice?

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as an event coordinator. I worked as an event coordinator before this. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. How did you choose?

Talk to people in the field you are considering. Two coffee chats changed my mind about one option.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
