Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? after 7 years as a welding apprentice

Three companies in Wichita cut staff in the same month. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more.

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
