Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? after 14 years as a machine operator

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. I have been trying to stay organised about it. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. Who has switched fields?

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.

Talk to people in the field you are considering. Two coffee chats changed my mind about one option.
