Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? after 14 years as a machine operator

Our sector has been shrinking and I am unsure if I should wait it out. There are 14 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.
