Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? after 12 years as a barista

Three companies in Spokane cut staff in the same month. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I have transferable skills but no direct experience elsewhere. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
