Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - 9 months and counting

Three companies in Memphis cut staff in the same month. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
