Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - 5 months and counting

Many of the people I know in my field were laid off this year, including me as a teaching assistant. I am in Tulsa, in case local advice matters. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Which areas are hiring?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It saved me later.

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
