Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - 2 months and counting

Three companies in Salt Lake City cut staff in the same month. Any experience at all would help. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Which areas are hiring?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.
