Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - 14 months and counting

Three companies in St. Louis cut staff in the same month. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I am open to a pay cut if the field is stable. Who has switched fields?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
