Whole sector shrinking, should I change fields? - 10 months and counting

Three companies in Cincinnati cut staff in the same month. There are 3 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. The postings I see are fewer and ask for more. How did you choose?

I moved into operations work. The skills carried over and there were more openings than in my old field.

Look at job postings to see which skills repeat, then fill the gap. That gave me a direction.
