What do I say about why I left my last job? - what worked for you?

They always ask why I left, and I freeze. There are 4 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I do not want to blame the company. Do they ask follow-ups?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

If a company has been in the news for layoffs, you can mention that. Often the interviewer already knows.
