Unemployment ran out before I found work - what worked for you?

My unemployment benefits end in 9 weeks and I have not found work as a mechanic. I have been trying to stay organised about it. I have savings for about a month. Did you find short-term work?

I took a temp job while I kept looking. It covered rent, and the agency sent me to a permanent job within a couple of months.
