Unemployment ran out before I found work - what worked for you?

My unemployment benefits end in 23 weeks and I have not found work as a mechanic. I wonder about extended programmes or help from local agencies. What did you do after benefits ran out?

Food pantries and community kitchens helped us stretch the budget. No shame in using them.
