Unemployment ran out before I found work after 5 years as a graphic designer

My unemployment benefits end in 5 weeks and I have not found work as a graphic designer. There are 5 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I am willing to take a temporary job. What did you do after benefits ran out?

I took a temp job while I kept looking. It covered rent, and the agency sent me to a permanent job within a couple of months.
