Trimming expenses while I search - what worked for you?

I have 12 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a web developer. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs.

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
