Trimming expenses while I search - what worked for you?

I have 13 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a quality inspector. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 13 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
