Trimming expenses while I search - what worked for you?

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Ask your utility about hardship programmes. Mine knocked a bit off my bill for several months.
