Trimming expenses while I search (update)

I have 8 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a customer-service rep. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
