Trimming expenses while I search (update)

I have 12 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a sales associate. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
