Trimming expenses while I search - any advice?

I have 3 months of savings and I am trying to stretch them after being let go as a line cook. I am in Jacksonville, in case local advice matters. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. Did any lender work with you?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
