Trimming expenses while I search after 7 years as a recruiter

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. This is my first time dealing with any of this. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

I called the landlord and the card company early. Both offered a short payment plan, which I did not expect.
