Trimming expenses while I search, accountant here

My income dropped to unemployment benefits and my bills have not changed. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What helped the most?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $450 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 10 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
