Trimming expenses while I search

We are a household of 7 and need to cut costs quickly. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. Rent and the car are the biggest costs. What did you cut first?

Subscriptions first, then the phone plan. I saved about $750 a year just by switching to a cheaper plan.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
