Telling my partner I lost my job - what worked for you?

I have been leaving the house at the same time each day so my kids do not notice. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
