Telling my partner I lost my job - what worked for you?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a barista. I am in Oklahoma City, in case local advice matters. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
