Telling my partner I lost my job - what worked for you?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a procurement assistant. I do not usually post, so bear with me. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
