Telling my partner I lost my job - what worked for you?

I was laid off 25 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I worked as a graphic designer before this. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
