Telling my partner I lost my job (update)

I have been leaving the house at the same time each day so my kids do not notice. I am in Madison, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
