Telling my partner I lost my job (update)

I was laid off 16 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I worked as an administrative assistant before this. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
