Telling my partner I lost my job (update)

I was laid off 23 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I worked as an electrician's helper before this. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

I told my partner the same evening with a simple plan: what happened, what I was doing and what I needed. It was a relief.
