Telling my partner I lost my job, production planner here

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a production planner. Any experience at all would help. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. What did you say?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
