Telling my partner I lost my job, mechanic here

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a mechanic. I do not usually post, so bear with me. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
