Telling my partner I lost my job, line cook here

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a line cook. I am in Honolulu, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
