Telling my partner I lost my job - first time posting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a bookkeeper. I am in Cincinnati, in case local advice matters. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 6 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
