Telling my partner I lost my job (Detroit)

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a forklift operator. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it last year, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
