Telling my partner I lost my job - any advice?

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a project coordinator. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I want a plan before I speak. What did you say?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
