Telling my partner I lost my job after 9 years as an HR coordinator

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an HR coordinator. I have read a lot of threads here and could not find my exact situation. I want a plan before I speak. How did you handle it?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 4 months ago, and it settled down once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
