Telling my partner I lost my job after 5 years as an accounts payable clerk

I was laid off 2 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. Any experience at all would help. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
