Telling my partner I lost my job after 4 years as a data-entry clerk

I was laid off 3 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. This is my first time dealing with any of this. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

I told my partner the same evening with a simple plan: what happened, what I was doing and what I needed. It was a relief.
