Telling my partner I lost my job after 17 years as a hotel front-desk agent

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a hotel front-desk agent. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
