Telling my partner I lost my job after 16 years as an accounts payable clerk

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as an accounts payable clerk. It has been weighing on me all week. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 14 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
