Telling my partner I lost my job - 8 months and counting

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a paralegal. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. Bills are coming up and I cannot keep this quiet. What did you say?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
