Telling my partner I lost my job

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a store manager. It has been a long 5 weeks. I want a plan before I speak. Did it get easier afterwards?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
