Telling my partner I lost my job

I was laid off 16 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I would rather hear the honest version than the polite one. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. Did it get easier afterwards?

I told my partner the same evening with a simple plan: what happened, what I was doing and what I needed. It was a relief.

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 3 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
