Telling my partner I lost my job - 4 months and counting

I was laid off 3 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. There are 17 people counting on me, so I am trying to be careful. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Do not wait until a bill surprises them. The longer it goes, the harder it gets.
