Telling my partner I lost my job - 23 weeks in

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a security officer. I am in Chicago, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. How did you handle it?

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.
