Telling my partner I lost my job - 2 weeks in

My spouse does not know yet that I was let go as a payroll clerk. It has been weighing on me all week. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team.

Shame is common after a layoff even when it is not your fault. Saying it out loud to one person first helped me.

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.
