Telling my partner I lost my job - 13 weeks in

I was laid off 13 weeks ago and have not told my family because I do not want them to worry. I am in Charlotte, in case local advice matters. I feel ashamed even though the company cut a whole team. What did you say?

Thanks for writing this out. I went through something close to it 7 months ago, and it got easier once I kept a simple log of every call and form.
