Should I negotiate my severance? - what worked for you?

I was offered 14 weeks of severance after 14 years as a line cook, and I have a few days to sign. Any experience at all would help. There is a non-disparagement clause. Should I see a lawyer?

Keep everything in writing and save the confirmation numbers. It made the follow-up calls so much easier.

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
