Should I negotiate my severance? - what worked for you?

I was offered 12 weeks of severance after 12 years as an administrative assistant, and I have a few days to sign. Thank you in advance. I do not want to leave money on the table. What did you ask for?

Read the release carefully. Mine included things I did not expect, like a non-compete.
